What if Your Last Paycheck Was Your Last Paycheck?

Statistics tell us that 10% of North Americans between ages 18 and 64 have a disability and that there is a 33% chance of a person entering the work force today being disabled before they retire. As people earn more, the financial risk posed by a disability becomes more significant. Unfortunately, very few people have insured this risk. Seventy percent of employees in the private sector are not covered by any type of long-term disability insurance.

Ask yourself: “What is my largest asset?” Most people will say it’s their home. But, the fact is that, it’s usually their ability to earn a paycheck. With-out this, all other assets are in jeopardy. If you lose your ability to work, what would you do?

Income Armor from the Knights of Columbus can pick up where your paycheck leaves off. Our Income Armor product is offered to members and their wives ages 18-61 (subject to under-writing requirements). Coverage cannot be canceled as long as you pay your premiums when they are due. Premiums are not guaranteed and increases are possible, but only on a class basis. Your base policy premium provides a comprehensive list of benefits, including for total disability, for partial disability, waiver of premium, and organ donor.

I am happy to meet with you and your spouse to provide you with additional details of Income Armor or any of our other fantastic Knights of Columbus Insurance products. Please contact me today.

Plan for This Tax Day and Into the Future

April 15 (tax day) is right around the corner. It’s become popular this time of year to encourage the opening of an IRA or similar retirement annuity, or the depositing of additional funds into an existing account, as a tax savings vehicle. A secondary approach is to tout the rate of interest that money in one of these accounts can earn. Let me join the chorus of folks encouraging you to open or add funds to an annuity, but for a different reason.

Certainly, contributing money to a Knights of Columbus annuity will allow you to save some money on your income tax return. And our annuities do pay a very competitive interest rate, consistent with our primary goal of absolute safety of principal. Opening or adding to an annuity for these reasons, however, strikes me as taking a short-term view of a product that is designed to provide long-term security. How much security? How does retirement income that you cannot outlive — guaranteed — sound to you?

Here at the Knights of Columbus, you can open a retirement annuity for as little as $300. Consistent and disciplined savings placed into that annuity over time can guarantee you an income at retirement that you cannot outlive. That guarantee — along with the fact that no one has ever lost money left in a Knights of Columbus annuity (remember – absolute safety of principal) — really will provide you with peace of mind.

I am happy to meet with you – at your convenience and in your home – to explain in detail the benefits of opening a Knights of Columbus annuity, along with the benefits of our top-rated life insurance, disability income and long-term care insurance plans.

Ask Eligible Men to Join

Today, I want to address the growth of the Order. Membership growth is the fuel that keeps this great fraternal engine running. All of our charitable works in the council, state, national and international level are thanks to our hard-working members.

We also recognize that the membership blitz is a tried and true way for councils to increase their numbers. We see these pushes often in March, in celebration of Founder’s Day, and again in October. These drives are successful because brother Knights are more visible than normal, during and after Masses and at special events. We must remember to ask each and every Catholic gentleman to join our ranks for the good of the Church, the community and the Order.

During the rest of the year, we often “forget” to ask men to join our ranks and bring their families into the Knights of Columbus family. You probably know an eligible Catholic man you could ask today. Chances are that the only reason he hasn’t joined already is because no one asked him.

When telling a prospect about the strengths of the Order, don’t forget our greatest fraternal benefit: our insurance program. This is often an interesting “selling point” to a potential member who is on the fence. Many members come into the Knighthood simply to be able to buy coverage for their family. Soon after, they realize the good our charitable works do for their community and they are proud to be members.

As your professional Knights of Columbus insurance agent, I look forward to helping us grow in fraternity in any
way that I can.

Please contact me with regards to any of your insurance needs.

2015 Insurance Check Up

Where did 2014 go? It seems like it was summer yesterday and Easter was last week. I hope you and your family had a great finish to 2014. Now, the first month of 2015 is speeding by.

Hopefully, you’ve established a few goals for this year. I’ve learned a great tip regarding resolutions. First, write them down. It’s not too late if you haven’t already done this. Commit your goals to paper and post it someplace you will see it often. Writing down a goal is the first step towards achieving it. I don’t know exactly how this works, but I’ve heard stories of the success this simple task can bring. Whether your goal is to exercise more, give more to charity, read more or watch less television, you’re more likely to accomplish it if you write it down.

Second, resolve to have an expert look at your finances. I recommend that you have a team of experts help you, and I should be among the first you sit with. Schedule some time to visit with me, your professional Knights of Columbus insurance agent, and I’ll provide an “insurance check-up” (at no cost!) that will quickly identify any gaps in your family’s life insurance program. And you’ll want to fill those gaps now, not later. Unlike many other products, you don’t just need money to obtain life insurance; you also need good health, and no one knows when your health could change.

Did I mention my check-up is free of charge? When was the last time you received something for free that could be providing value to you and your family for generations? Call me today.

Holiday Review

Merry Christmas!

This is the time of year to look back and be thankful for all your blessings. Then, look forward and count all your opportunities. When one looks back at memorable blessings, they are a direct result of sound decisions and positive actions. God provides to those who “pray and do something.” Planning ahead, making decisions and moving forward with confidence produces “blessings.” Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, and Long Term Care Insurance are financial products that are blessings when they are needed.

  1. Please take time to think about these questions:
  2. If your last paycheck was your last paycheck, what resources could your family count on to assist you?
  3. Is your retirement financial planning diversified enough?
  4. Do you understand how your Life Insurance works from your employer and from that big commercial company?
  5. When was the last time an agent reviewed your policy making sure they are meeting your needs?
  6. Do you know anyone who needed Long Term Care services but did not have the means to pay for it?
  7. Does it make sense to “buy Term Life Insurance and invest the rest” if you do not invest?
  8. Do you have substantial financial assets which might create an estate tax problem?
  9. Is your Trust and/or Will up to date?
  10. Does your Life Insurance have descriptive words in the title, such as, Variable Premium, Universal, Variable Life, Group, or Accidental? What do they really mean by these terms?
  11. If you live past age 65, as most of us will, how much life insurance will you need into your 80’s. What about inflation and increasing medical costs?
  12. Do you believe that small sacrifices today pay big dividends in the future?
  13. What is your financial legacy and how do you want to be remembered?

Last but not least:
What do you think a widow would prefer a hug and condolences or a hug, condolences, and a check?
