Provider Pathway For Long-Term Care

Since its addition to the Order’s product portfolio in 2000, long-term care insurance has provided us with an excellent opportunity to further serve our Brother Knights and their families. And for our clients in the United States, a K of C Care policy brings added value.

That added value is in the form of a service called “Provider Pathway,” a program offering access to a network of long-term care providers at discounted rates. The network covers: home health care, personal emergency response systems, adult day care, assisted living, skilled nursing facilities and durable medical equipment.

Eligibility for participation in this program is open to Knights of Columbus Long-Term Care Insurance policyholders, their spouses, dependent children, parents and parents-in-law. All providers are fully credentialed and meet state licensing requirements.

If you are not a LTC policyholder and you would like more information on how you can avail yourself of this benefit, let’s get together as soon as possible.

A Prayer For Lent

O Lord, Master of my life, grant that I may not be infected with the spirit of slothfulness and inquisitiveness, with the spirit of ambition and vain talking. (+)
Grant instead to me Your servant the spirit of purity and humility, the spirit of patience and brotherly love. (+)
O Lord and King, bestow upon me the grace of being aware of my sins and of not thinking evil of those of my brethren; for You are blessed unto ages of ages. Amen. (+)

(Then twelve times.) O God, be propitious to me the sinner and have mercy on me.

(Then, once again.) Yes, O Lord and King, bestow upon me the grace of being aware of my sins and of not thinking evil of those of my brethren; for You are blessed unto ages of ages. Amen. (+)

The Prayer of Saint Ephraim the Syrian
(The “(‘+)“ indicates that those praying make a deep bow or prostration at this point.)

Grand Knight’s Message February 2012

GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE

Hello my Worthy Brothers and family.

There’s so much to cover in this months GK message. First, let me start out by saying it gives me great excitement to announce that our general meeting dinners in March, April and May will be FREE! If successful, our council may budget for all the monthly dinners in the next Columbian year. Your attendance will show support for this new program.

Our second announcement is that the K of C council 953 will be sponsoring a Loaves and Fishes hot meal once a month. It will most likely be the last Friday of every month from 10 am – 1 pm, volunteers will be on a rotating schedule. All we need is two volunteers at a time. Knights, wives, family & friends are all encouraged to help. We understand that this falls on a workday and we pray that with plenty of notice some can go to work later, get off early, take an extended lunch or if able, perhaps take the day off. It’s only for 3 hours and it helps an organization that helps many in need. Loaves and Fishes is responsible for serving over 700 hot meals a day. That’s over 21,000 hot meals every month, all without government funding. Let’s get together and lend a helping hand to this charitable organization. This is a great opportunity for the K of C to make a public presence. Please contact me so we can start a rotation.

Our 3rd announcement is that our council will have a “Mexican Knight” in May. If you would like to help contribute or have thoughts on making this event a success, please contact Lewis Munoz. All proceeds will benefit the Newman Center student retreat program.

Lastly, I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to our co-Knights of the month: PGK Al Piccardo & Johnny Waldron. The annual Shrimp Feed and Crab Feed performed by these two Knights and their “crew” have been a staple on our council’s calendar as an event not to miss. Their past success- and no doubt, this year’s success- is but one reason to recognize these Brothers in our council………….Thank you!

Please also keep in mind that coming up this month will be:
Ladies Night on 2/16 and our ID Spaghetti Dinner on 2/18.

Have a Blessed Month!

Your Grand Knight Council 953

Beneficiaries…Who Do You Love?

Beneficiaries…Who Do You Love?

Valentine’s Day will soon be here! Do you know who the beneficiary is on your life insurance policy? Sometimes it is easy to overlook the simplest of things.

Why is it so important to know and to have your beneficiary information updated? A life insurance policy protects the financial status of another person – or people – in the event of your death.

When Purchasing Knights of Columbus insurance policy, you have selected a primary beneficiary, and if you desire, a contingent, or secondary beneficiary. It’s always a wise choice to have a contingent beneficiary because you may outlive your primary beneficiary. A contingent beneficiary is the person designated to receive life insurance policy proceeds if the primary beneficiary dies.

By being specific as possible in the wording your beneficiary designation you make sure that the life insurance proceeds will be available to your wife, daughter, son, etc., in a timely manner when needed most.

Your life situation will undoubtedly change over time. Plan to update your beneficiary designations periodically. This will ensure that your life insurance coverage will protect those you love and want to protect.

Changing your beneficiary is fairly simple. I can provide you with the necessary forms, and can help you fill them out. I can also help you with all of your life insurance policy beneficiary designations for any life insurance policy you hold – regardless of the company that issued it.

To contact me with regards to any of your insurance needs, please call my office at (916) 691-4571 or e-mail me at hank.cornell@kofc.org
