Exciting News for 953: St Thomas/Celebrating 50 Years-St Mary’s Fireworks Stand

Hello SKs and Brothers,
As we are about to officially begin a new Columbian Year, it is of great honor and excitement that our Worthy Elect CP mentioned before the official report came out this morning that we have made STAR council!
It is with all our hard work and love for the charity work we continue to foster since our Council was founded in 1905 that we have earned this recognition. As Brother Al reminded us this month, it is not about the awards but the good work we do as Brothers. This serves as a reminder that The Knights of Columbus sees our hard work for it is not of the one but the whole that makes our Council great!

Saint of the Day: St Thomas More
Sir Thomas More, venerated in the Catholic Church as Saint Thomas More, was an English lawyer, judge, social philosopher, author, statesman, and noted Renaissance humanist. He also served Henry VIII as Lord High Chancellor of England from October 1529 to May 1532.
Four hundred years later in 1935, Thomas More was canonized a saint of God. Few saints are more relevant to our time. In the year 2000, in fact, Pope John Paul II named him patron of political leaders. The supreme diplomat and counselor, he did not compromise his own moral values in order to please the king, knowing that true allegiance to authority is not blind acceptance of everything that authority wants. King Henry himself realized this and tried desperately to win his chancellor to his side because he knew More was a man whose approval counted, a man whose personal integrity no one questioned. But when Thomas More resigned as chancellor, unable to approve the two matters that meant most to Henry, the king had to get rid of him.
