As we enter into Advent, it is a time for reflection, preparation, prayer, and family. I wish each member and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Go! Make a difference…
John Sheldon
Grand Knight, Council 953
I was proud to receive the plaque for Star Council for the past Columbian Year. This is only the third time our council has been awarded Star Council.
So what does it take to be Star Council? It is a lot more than just membership. We needed to increase our membership by 16 members, we increased it by
19. We needed an increase of 6 new insurance members, we increased it by 7. We needed to conduct and report at least four (4) major involvement programs in each of the following areas Church, Community, Council, Family, Pro-Life and Youth. We did that and much more. There were also forms that needed to be submitted in a timely manner mostly by the Financial Secretary.
Star Council is a collaborative effort by the entire council. Every member of this council should be proud, it was the hard of work each and every one of you.
Thank you!

Past Grand Knight, Council 953
The Nulk family was named Family of the Month at the November Business Meeting. PGK Charlie and his son Tom (pictured with GK John Sheldon) have been active members of Council 953 for many years and have contributed a great deal to our various events and service programs. In particular, Tom is the organizer of our annual German Night (Oktoberfest), which is one of our biggest fundraisers. During Charlie’s tenure as Grand Knight, the Council received one of its three Star Council awards.
Many thanks to PGK Al Piccardo for all his hard work in putting on our annual Giant Shrimp Dinner. We are pleased to report that the dinner produced net proceeds of $3,000!
I would like to thank Dale Edwards, Bill Renard, Alex Kachmar, and my friend Cindy Leggitt for helping during last month’s sale. I also would like to thank Alex and his wife Joanne for helping pack up leftovers after the sale, and George Mills and Dale for taking two loads of leftovers to St. Vincent de Paul on Monday 12/1. We raised almost $400 for the Hall Board.
