PGK and Old Timers Dinner & Installation of Officers

On Thursday June 25, Council 953 held its annual PGK & Old Timers Dinner and installation of officers for the 2015-16 Columbian Year.

Family of the Month – November 2014

Family of the Month – November 2014The Nulk family was named Family of the Month at the November Business Meeting. PGK Charlie and his son Tom (pictured with GK John Sheldon) have been active members of Council 953 for many years and have contributed a great deal to our various events and service programs. In particular, Tom is the organizer of our annual German Night (Oktoberfest), which is one of our biggest fundraisers. During Charlie’s tenure as Grand Knight, the Council received one of its three Star Council awards.

Knights & Families of the Month – October 2014

October AwardsIn light of there being so many individuals to thank for 953’s successful Mexican Night dinner, the Grand Night named multiple Knights of the Month in October.

The Knights of the Month are Ricardo Saldaña and Lewis Muñoz, who organized Mexican Night, as well as Lewis’ father Frank Muñoz, who came up from Los Angeles to help.

In addition, the Muñoz and Saldaña families were named Families of the Month in appreciation of all their hard work for Mexican Night. Some family members literally spent the entire day in the kitchen helping to prepare the delicious food we all enjoyed.

Knight and Family of the Month – August 2014

At the August business meeting, Michael McVean was named Knight of the Month for August in appreciation of his assistance with the St. Stephen’s Beer Booth and the Hall Board’s steak dinner. (pictured at left with GK John Sheldon)

In addition, the family of Brian McKrell was named Family of the Month. Brian organized our fun-filled council picnic in July and has made many other contributions in his role as Family Director.

Past Grand Knights & Old Timers Dinner

2014-2015 Council 953 OfficersOn June 26, Council 953 held its annual Past Grand Knights & Old Timers Dinner. In addition to the installation of officers for the 2014-15 Columbian Year, several council members were honored for their service during the 2013-14 Columbian Year.

John Watling was honored as Knight of the Year,

John Watling was honored as Knight of the Year, and Ricardo Saldaña and his wife Monica were honored as
Family of the Year.

Past Grand Knight Fred Struck in honor of his year of service as Grand Knight.

 

In addition, a Plaque of Appreciation was presented to Immediate Past Grand Knight Fred Struck in honor of his year of service as Grand Knight.

 

 

Many thanks for all who worked hard to make the Past Grand Knight’s/Old Timers Dinner a great success. As usual the food was great. I especially want to thank Dave Carboni, who was in the kitchen cooking from 12:30 pm until the dinner was served. Also thanks to Terry Corcoran, Steve Mills, Tom Nulk, George Mills, John Watling, Dale Edwards, Carlos Galindo, Garrett Thomas, Hector Garcia.

Family of the Month June 2014We are very pleased and honored to announce that the Family of Month for June is the David Carboni family. Dave with the support of his wife Bonnie, have done great jobs at all of the Council’s events. If not working at these events they always attend them. Dave and Bonnie have been married for 52 years. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council 953 wish the David Carboni family, many more happy years together!
